Stephen Ministry complements the culture at St. Mark’s of “becoming more like Jesus” by providing a caring relationship for those struggling with the pain of grief and brokenness.
Why Stephen Ministry?
There are more people in the community needing care than a pastor can provide in pastoral counseling, and not everyone can afford a mental health counselor. Stephen Ministry fills a missing piece in a church's ability to provide care.
Who are Stephen Ministers?
While Stephen Ministers are not mental health professionals or usually professional clergy, they are trained to provide excellent Christian care, receiving at least 50 hours of training. They are prepared to walk alongside care receivers for up to one year through regular meetings.
How do I connect with a Stephen Minister?
If you think that you, or someone you know, may need to receive care from a Stephen Minister, contact Care Ministry director and Stephen Leader Gordon Wong here.
