We hope this guide will help you take the good news you hear today into your daily lives.

In the final message of Five Letter Faith, Jarm will look at Acts 2, exploring how we can partner with the Spirit and participate in life together, united as the Body of Christ.

Key Scripture Passages

The community continually committed themselves to learning what the apostles taught them, gathering for fellowshipbreaking bread, and praying. Everyone felt a sense of awe because the apostles were doing many signs and wonders among them. There was an intense sense of togetherness among all who believed; they shared all their material possessions in trust. They sold any possessions and goods that did not benefit the community and used the money to help everyone in need. They were unified as they worshiped at the temple day after day. In homes, they broke bread and shared meals with glad and generous hearts. The new disciples praised God, and they enjoyed the goodwill of all the people of the city. Day after day the Lord added to their number everyone who was experiencing liberation.

 Acts 2:42-47 (The Voice)

(1-3) In light of all this, here’s what I want you to do. While I’m locked up here, a prisoner for the Master, I want you to get out there and walk—better yet, run!—on the road God called you to travel. I don’t want any of you sitting around on your hands. I don’t want anyone strolling off, down some path that goes nowhere. And mark that you do this with humility and discipline—not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love, alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences.

(4-6) You were all called to travel on the same road and in the same direction, so stay together, both outwardly and inwardly. You have one Master, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who rules over all, works through all, and is present in all. Everything you are and think and do is permeated with Oneness.

 Ephesians 4:1-6

Reflecting on Togetherness

How committed are you to engaging in fellowship, breaking bread, and praying with (not just for) others? Who can you “break bread” with this week? (Acts 2:42)

What are some ways you can share material possessions, or use your resources to help others in need? (Acts 2:44-45)

What are some ways you can invite people outside your circle to your table with a “glad and generous heart”? Name and then pray for those people. (Acts 2:46)

What does “being in community” mean to you? How does your version of community match the one described in Acts 2?

Are you “quick at mending fences?” What fences in your areas of influence need mending? Pray for God’s help in this. (Eph. 4:3)
