Overflowing (Living Temples)
Week 3 Group Study Questions
1.) Read Acts 1:1-9 - What do you think the disciples were thinking when Jesus Ascended into heaven?
2.) Why do you think we lack the urgency to “be my witnesses”?
3.) Read Acts 2:38-42 – After becoming accepting Christ, what were the four things that believers devoted themselves to?
• On Sunday we talked about how the “apostles teaching” was really the first hand account of Jesus life and ministry. Our experience of the Apostles teaching is found in the four gospels. What would a devotion to the Gospels look like for us today and how might it prepare us to be better “witnesses to Christ’s presence”?
• Fellowship is more than just hanging out with friends, it is intentionally seeking an experience with the broader “Body of Christ” where do you find yourself doing that now, and what might it look like to stretch yourself to experience more of Him?
• On Sunday we recognized communion as more than just a symbol, but instead the process through which Jesus re-attaches(remembers) us to His presence. What steps do you need to take before communion this work to prepare yourself for communion?
• Finally we recognize prayer as a form of invitation of the sufficient Spirit. How would your prayer life change if your goal was to receive more of God’s Spirit?
4.) Read Acts 2:43-47 – Why do you think the four practices above led the church to exercise “Whole-Life” Sacrificial Generosity?
5.) Which of the first four practices do you think will help unlock a generous life in you?
6.) PRAY: Acts 2:47 concludes by saying “the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Take some time to pray that God would fill you with His Holy Spirit in a way that leads you to “be His witnesses” in all the earth!
