Therefore: Week 1
This series will focus on Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, which challenges readers to claim a new life, identity, and purpose in the hope of the resurrection. In week one, we will spend time in Ephesians chapter one.
1. If you are part of a group that met during our Origin Stories series, discuss the impact our study on Genesis made on you. What are your expectations as we shift to Paul’s letter to the Ephesians?
2. Read Ephesians 1:3-4 and talk about the connection Paul makes with our creation as people made in God’s image. What does it mean to be bearers of God’s image?
3. Read Ephesians 1:5-14. How has the work of Christ linked us to the covenant God made with Abraham? What does this mean to you?
4. Read Ephesians 1:15-16. Talk about someone whose faith in Jesus and love for all of God’s people inspires you.
5. Read Ephesians 1:17-19. Who do you, like Paul, pray to know the love of the Lord more intimately? Whose eyes and heart do you wish to be opened so that they may know the “hope” and “glorious inheritance” God has called them to? Stop now and pray for that person.
