B.L.E.S.S. (Eat Together)
Our new series, BLESS Your Heart, is based on the book B.L.E.S.S. by Dave and Jon Ferguson, which outlines five practical ways to love our neighbors and share our faith. This week, we “Eat Together.”
What is your favorite meal? Talk about some of the special dining experiences you’ve shared with others.
Discuss the power of sharing a meal. What do you think is it about eating with another person or group of people that can be especially powerful?
Have you ever spent much time observing how often Jesus chooses to eat with people in scripture? Why do you think sharing meals with people was so central to His ministry?
What are some common excuses for not sharing a meal with someone do you find yourself giving?
Read Luke 5:27-32.
Why do you think Jesus chose to eat a meal with Levi? How do you think Levi felt about sharing a meal with Jesus?
What statement does Jesus make by choosing to eat with “tax collectors and sinners”? What do you think bothered the Pharisees so much about this?
In the Primer Podcast and his sermon, Pete challenged us to begin praying for, listening to, and eating together with a neighbor who may hold different opinions from ourselves. Who is someone you feel that God has on your heart to share a meal, dessert or coffee with soon? Talk about your plans to invite them to share a meal.
Some questions above appeared first in the book B.L.E.S.S. by Dave and Jon Ferguson.
