O Christmas Tree (Christmas—The Presence)

In our Advent series, O Christmas Tree, we have explored the first chapter of John’s Gospel, focusing on themes of the Tree, the Lights/Star, the Ornaments, and, finally, the Presents (Presence).

  1. What present are you most excited about? What do you plan to do with it?

  2. Read the following passages and reflect on what they mean to you:

The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him.

    John 1:9-11 (NLT)

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

    John 1:14 (NLT)

  3. Our greatest gift this Christmas isn’t a present—it is God’s presence. What does it look like to enjoy this gift?
